In support of your school’s or district’s student code of conduct, describe a set of procedural skills that teachers use when addressing and resolving discipline problems in the classroom
Provide specific examples.
• Verbal Warning
• Move your clip or clothes pin on the behavioral chart
• Time out in your class
• Time out in another class
• Parent notification ( Phone/Letter)
• Office Referral
Based on your school’s or district’s student code of conduct, how will you establish and teach about classroom procedures, homework, transitions, dismissal, rest room, etc.? (FEAP a.2.b/FPEC 2.2/InTASC 3k.k)
I will begin teaching and following procedures and routines the first day of class. I will not allow bad habits to develop. I will use multi-sensory methods to teach procedures and routines. Examples include role-playing, drawings, and written compositions. I will post the procedures in a logical place. Line-up procedures will be posted by the door, cleaning-up procedures on a bucket that holds clean up supplies, paper management will be by the finished bins, etc. I will review procedures frequently to see if they are working and change and modify as needed.
Based the student code of conduct, how will you develop and teach classroom rules, rewards, and consequences (FEAP a.2.b/FPEC 2.2/InTASC 3k.k)
The students and I will create discipline plans including rules with clear and effective consequences. The rules should be agreed upon and understood by everyone in the class. It should be understood that when rules are broken, consequences will be applied fairly and consistently.
How will you demonstrate use of all safety measures, features, and training? (FEAP a.2.b/FPEC 2.2/InTASC 3k.k)
Safety policies for modifying the environment, modifying behavior, monitoring children and teaching injury-preventive behaviors to children will help me offer more safety protection and prevention in every child care situation.
How will you maintain emergency access? (8FEAP a.2.b/FPEC 2.2/InTASC 3k.k)
I will create and maintain the physical environment of my classroom as a safe place that is conducive to learning. I will ensure that all materials are safely and properly stored and that all applicable safety regulations and precautions are followed.
Based on the student code of conduct, how will you manage individual and class behaviors through a well-planned management system? (FEAP a.2.b/FPEC 2.2/InTASC 3k.k)
Behavioral rules and consequences will be appropriate for the students and remain consistent with my school and school district policies. These rules and consequences will be clearly conveyed to the students and enforced in a fair and consistent manner. Effective preventive discipline techniques such as eye contact and facial expressions will be used to handle any disruptions in an appropriate and timely manner. Disciplinary actions will focus on the inappropriate behaviors and not on the students themselves. I will always encourage students to monitor and assume responsibility for their own behavior.
